I see a difference between Gilmore Girls and Sex in the City too, though - so thats fairly irrelevent - they are both aimed at chicks.
Adding vampires and monsters may make things more palatable to guys, but it doesn't all of a sudden make it a guy oriented show - which is especially apparent given the recent chick fascination with shitty vampire fiction and tv.
