I will assume that list is just a list of parts and not actually representative of any recent prices paid... (cause those monitors are about $400 overpriced....each)

2 SSD's instead of 1 decently sized SSD & 1 convential storage drive: Fail
Windows 8.1: FAIL
Anything Dell: FAIL

At least your CPU, MOBO & Ram looks ok.

hehe the 2 ssd's split was because one was free!
The IPS monitors are actually quality monitors that I got discounted when they were newer. I've had them for years.
I'm interested in trying 8.1 pro, although if I hate it I have 7 as well. We use server 2012 all the time now at work for both our sql and iis instances and so I've gotten really comfortable with the platform.

Yes slamz that's just a site where I could put my parts in and it finds them for sale on the internet. The only actual prices I paid are for the recent hardware.

This was what I replaced:

I'm using Dell U2312HM monitors (well, I'm using one, and my wife is using one). I had thought these would only be temporary monitors while I try to find something better but they have turned out to be excellent, even though they are only 16:9 instead of 16:10.

Windows 8.1 is fine. Ignore all those that can't get past the slight learning curve.
I don't own kid gloves.

I was going to wait for Maxwell...the rumors I'm hearing are 2015 now so I think I want to buy a new card to replace my 570, gaming on one monitor and at 1920 X 1200.

So I was thinking this:

<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814500311">http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814500311</a><!-- m -->

This:

<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121770">http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814121770</a><!-- m -->

or this:

<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=8920010&CatId=7387">http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications ... CatId=7387</a><!-- m -->

I'm extremely torn though and would love some guidance and/or better suggestions.

Thank you in advance!

If you can live with the price, go for the nVidia 780. It's not a huge jump over the 770 but there is a jump (whereas I do not advise going with the Titans because it's a big price jump for a tiny difference in performance).

I always suggest nVidia over Radeon because it seems like game companies always work closer with nVidia and I feel like Radeon is not as quick to roll out driver fixes. Whenever the forums are awash in GPU related complaints it seems like the bulk of the problem is related to Radeon drivers.

agreed, the price point for AMD is so good but I can't help but lean towards nvidia still. I always read the amd drivers are an issue for a large group of people.

I just wish there was some inkling of Maxwell out there. If it was in Q3 I'd be willing to wait.

We have a mixture of Dell and Samsung monitors at work. We replace the Samsungs all the time and the Dells are just workhorses. We have Dell mons here that run 24/7/365 and have been working for over 5 years. We've replaced about 6 Samsung flat screens that were within warranty in the past year.

And actually paying currency for a "conventional storage drive" in 2014 is silly. Because odds are a person has amassed a collection of HDDs over the years and you can just move over the one from your old PC and use that as storage. I have probably a half dozen HDDs just sitting on a shelf collecting dust. Any new drive purchase would be SSD and I'll just stack the hell out of them and throw as many games as will fit on them, and leave my photos/vids on HDD as a backup with cloud storage redundancy.

very true, after two drive failures I decided to stick with my usb 3.0 external and put that money towards a video cards since I'm impatient.

That's what I went with, out of pocket it'll cost me 429.99 with the discount, cash back from fatwallet, a private 30 buck discount newegg gave me and the rebate
