Took me awhile to get used to my widescreen after gaming on a 19" Viewsonic gamer monitor for 5+ years.

ASUS 21' LED backlit monitor. Only downside is no vertical adjustment, you might need an adjustable monitor stand of some sort. You should not have to look down at all to your monitor.

Response time is important stat for LCD monitors used for gaming btw, and this is one of the quickest.

Other brands I would recommend you stick with

Asus, Viewsonic & Samsung.

I've had 2-3 Viewsonic monitors and their support and warranties were awesome.

I really enjoy my BenQ XL2420T, but then again I'm not getting it for great colors but for the 120hz, black equalization, great response time and a few other nifty features. You can pick up the T model (no 3d glasses) for 420$, or pay a bit more for the included glasses if you want them and grab them at 500$.

If you want to stick with Asus I had a VG278H, not bad on the colors, 120hz, Gloss free screen, and 27" screen. Stand doesn't feel real sturdy, but never had any problems with it. Only con I had was the price (near 700$).

I'm in the market for a new monitor as well, i am trying to decide between 16:9 (1920x1080) which seems to be the most common now and 16:10 (1920x1200) which was previously the standard for monitors. I am mostly interested in it for gaming, and recommendations would be great!

Asus, Samsung & Viewsonic are companies to look for
