I guess there was something going on at Staples last night. Half of Downtown was shut-down and there were police in riot gear. Took me an hour to get home.
Really confusing. Maybe L.A. fans just had to riot about having nothing to riot about since the Lakers got taken out.

In all seriousness, it was exciting and I got caught up because I'm a sports fan. It's SoCal though. I still don't know what icing is and why it can just be waved off when the ref feels like it. It was freaking hilarious watching morning newscasters stumble their way through hockey coverage when even I knew they were screwing up with the terminology. You cant't just substitute "Kings" for "Lakers" and expect your words to make sense.

hehe, I think icing is probably the most confusing rule for people who don't watch hockey. Basically an icing is called when you pass/shoot the puck from your side of the red line(the line in the middle of the ice) and nobody touches it before it crosses the red line where the goal sits. It can be waved off if the goalie touches it, it doesn't cross the line by the goal, or if the team that originally passed the puck gets to it first.
They also have what is called no touch icing, which the NHL doesn't use which means as soon as the puck crosses the line by the goalie, the whistle is blown... the NHL will probably go to no touch icing relatively soon for "safety reasons".
Also, if your team is short handed, you can ice the puck as much as you want and they will not blow the whistle.

Whats embarassing about the sportscasters not knowing anything is that a socal team has won the cup 2 of the last 6 times. Obv suck at their jobs.

The sportscasters are fine. It's those newscasters they send on location to get the fan interest fluff pieces that are terrible. Really, they are terrible with everything, not just hockey coverage.

I think your missing the point. I can go golf 18 holes, drink 2 pictures with my friends, go home and turn on golf on TV where they talk in hushed voices, and take the greatest nap EVER. and the wife is ok with it.....
