Gangnam Style Hallow lights - Diggles - 10-25-2012 I had a good laugh at this, because former neighbor & family friend has done programmed xmas lighting for nearly a decade. Too bad he isnt tapping into the pop youth! Re: Gangnam Style Hallow lights - strife - 10-26-2012 Jakensama Wrote:That might possibly be the worst song ever written.I agree... but I still kind of like it.. then again, one of my favorite songs to listen to is Blue by Eiffel 65 Re: Gangnam Style Hallow lights - Jakensama - 10-26-2012 Haha I haven't heard that song in forever. Normally I would just dismiss it as average pop garbage, but my secretary listens to the radio and I hear that shit like 17 times a day since apparently radios have 6 songs on auto-rotate. Re: Gangnam Style Hallow lights - Sebrent - 10-26-2012 I hate the fact that most people don't have a clue what he's saying ... it isn't in English ... I'm curious how many actually know that ... I'm also curious how many of those think he's just making up words ... A translation to English for you ... http://www.businessinsider.com/gangnam- ... ion-2012-9 ... given what I see there ... while likely not a "perfect" translation (though it does match translations on other sites) ... I can't help but feel it is another stupid pop song ... if the sound of it wasn't enough to give that away. ----- @ OP ... cute use of the lights to "sing" the song. Re: Gangnam Style Hallow lights - Slamz - 10-26-2012 Pretty sure Gangnam style owes 95% of its popularity to the video. Anytime it comes on in any bar, someone is guaranteed to start dancing like the guy in the video (it's almost always slightly inebriated women in their 20s doing this so it all works out). I imagine you'd be mystified if you heard the song and hadn't seen the video. But then, with over 500,000,000 hits (no, really), I'm not sure how you managed to NOT see the video. When I first saw it, I looked it up and Wikipedia already had a writeup on it that made it sound a lot more interesting. It's basically a satire. The singer, who is definitely not "Gangnam style", made a video about being Gangnam style and basically being a huge goofball. I can dig it. I wonder if this is the first non-Spanish foreign language song to make it this big in America? Re: Gangnam Style Hallow lights - Breand - 10-26-2012 I just assumed like every fad it was based off the dance for the song and not the song itself. Re: Gangnam Style Hallow lights - Jakensama - 10-26-2012 German song hit #2 on the billboard in the 80s - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/99_Luftballons Re: Gangnam Style Hallow lights - Sebrent - 10-26-2012 So much better than Gangnam Style ... I'd be curious to see people's reactions to an English version of it. Re: Gangnam Style Hallow lights - Snowreap - 10-26-2012 this article does a pretty good job explaining what's going on behind the song: Gangnam Style, Dissected: The Subversive Message Within South Korea's Music Video Sensation -ken Re: Gangnam Style Hallow lights - TinStar - 10-28-2012 Slamz Wrote:I wonder if this is the first non-Spanish foreign language song to make it this big in America? "Du Hast" by Rammstein was pretty big when I was in highschool. It wasn't played at every public event or known by every 14 year old girl out there, but it was pretty popular for what it was.
