Web hosting - Slamz - 05-24-2003

Anyone know a good web host?

Needs to offer PHP and MySql.

Our subscription here is about to run out (I actually thought it was dead earlier, but evidently that was just ipowerweb having another temporary dead-time). Everyone would have to sign back up to a new forum, but presumedly Wookie can reupload his new site stuff and we'd be set. There might be a way to transfer the board over too, I'll have to look into it.

I could just renew for another year with this place, but the board becomes inaccessible more often than I would like.

If anyone has experience with another web host, lemme know. Sites like Geocities or 50megs.com won't work because they don't offer PHP/SQL support. We need those to run the forums.

Hey Grumples/Slamz...

I dunno what you pay for hosting, but I really dig this <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.winsave.com">http://www.winsave.com</a><!-- m --> stuff... its like $120 per year (I think 8.50/month)...

Unlimited bandwidth
Unlimited DSN connections
100 MB disk (it was 50 but they upped it I think)

They have two host plans I think... ASP3.0 and all the generic Windows stuff as well as servers with the PHP MySQL software... I personally have an account on their W2k servers and ASP...

Its damn affordable hosting, IMO.... unlimited bandwidth for $120ish per year is hard to beat...

Ok bro, I just checked out the PHP sister host of the host I use.. its not unlimited bandwidth like the Windows host I use, but it is a little cheaper... I doubt we could get over 7.5 gigs of bandwidth per month here...

Here is the link you want if you want this hosting at 7.95 per month...

what they offer...

Too late. :-p

I went with http:\\www.dominet.net which, despite a rather annoying home page, has good deals and someone on the IA forum said they've never had problems there.

We might be purgare.net in the near future though. I can't seem to get the old host to acknowledge my request to change the nameservers for purgare.com. Could be because I'm not paying them anymore.

<!-- w --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.phpwebhosting.com">www.phpwebhosting.com</a><!-- w --> is my current host, and they are great. $10/month and you get a mysql db (or multiple ones, if you request, at no charge), plenty of space, ssh login at request for no charge, and (obviously) it is very php-friendly.
