@ Jake - Case Keenum to start Sunday for the Texans

Quote:Texans coach Gary Kubiak announced today that the injured Matt Schaub will miss Sunday’s game and Keenum is his starter. Keenum has leapfrogged T.J. Yates, who came in to relieve Schaub last week, on the Texans’ depth chart.

Kubiak said Keenum has impressed him in training camp, the preseason and practice and has earned an opportunity to show what he can do.

“He’s given me confidence through camp,” Kubiak said of Keenum. “He continues to grow. We’re looking for a spark and he deserves an opportunity.”

Awesome! Maybe it's just cause I like to stare at destruction, but I'm still pretty happy about this.

Seriously, if I were a Texas fan, I'd be happy with a QB who can avoid a pick 6.

Yea, that was pretty lame. I mean, I'm happy Keenum is getting a chance, and am frustrated with Schaub... but I didn't want him to get hurt.

It's gonna be awesome when he throws a pick 6. Daniel manning is out for the season too, down to good ole Shiloh Keo...

We're gonna get our assess handed to us regardless of who starts so might as well see if Keenum can actually play in the NFL (not likely).

Also, Strife, aren't you proud to root for a team with Al Sharpton's nephew on it?

So what do you think Strife? Still have a shot at the playoffs this year? You guys can still put a lot of talent onto the field every Sunday.

Clearly, Jake has pulled the plug in this season.

You obviously haven't watched a Texans game recently. Even our stupid Aggie kicker we wasted a draft pick on can't hit shit. Plus we have one of the hardest remaining schedules. Plus Indy is actually good this year. We fell apart after roidhead Cushing got hurt last year and havent recovered since, even with his return.

At least we got Shane Lechler - when you are as awful as we have been you need a top 2 in the NFL punter.

At least Texas beat OU so this whole football season isn't a total wash.

Plus Kubiak runs the most predictible offense in the NFL, and everyones figured us out. Maybe when he gets someone without a noodle-arm we can do something different.

I hope he does well. It will be nice to have a mobile quarterback. I don't expect him to do well, but I hope.

I didn't hear about Manning... that sucks ;(

I still think we are the best team in the AFC south, although the Colts may be legit... but I think that's still up in the air... We'll definitely need to beat them both times we face them, but like Jake said, we have a tough schedule. We play the Colts twice, the Patriots and Broncos once each and obviously the Cheifs this week. If we don't sweep the colts and take at least 2 from Broncos, Patriots & Chiefs, then we're fucked... so odds aren't really in our favor. Not to mention, Schaub(who even though I'm extremely frustrated with him) is hurt and he's probably still our best option.

I don't think Keenum is going to be our savior, but I'm still happy to see him play. Odds are this season is over with so the rest will just be for grins. Maybe Keenum isn't just a college QB and we can run the table here on out... unlikely though.

As long as he doesn't call himself a reverend and try to preach to me, I have no issue with him, or his family Smile

Keenum played pretty well... if only our O-line could block. I would rather him start again next game than Schaub, but that's probably not going to happen... We have a buy next week(I think) and I'm sure Schaub will be back by then. Keenum definitely should at least dress as the backup next game.

I'm guessing Cushing is done for the season, that looked pretty bad and it's on the same knee he hurt last season.

Yeah, nice to lose at least 2 players a game...

Yeah that Cushing injury looked really bad, especially on the same knee he just had fixed last season.

I thought Keenum played decent but after the 2 fumbles late in the game(one we lost) I'm 90% sure Schaub starts next week(assuming he's healthy enough). The only thing this does now is if Schaub continues to play shitty then it opens up the door for him to get benched.

Yea, it also didn't help he was sacked 4 or 5 times... BUT, it's not like Schaub wouldn't have been sacked all the times Keenum was, plus some. I think Kubiak screwed them out of a win... at the end of the 2nd, instead of attempting to go for 3 points, he wasted like 30 seconds and we ran out of time to do anything... then instead of trying a long field goal(granted, our kicker started off like shit, but has made 11 of his last 12), he tries a long bomb to the end zone instead of going for 3 points. Also, if Kubiak does another fucking draw play when it's 3rd and 15+, I'm going to flip my lid. Before the play I was calling draw play and boom, draw play, and I'm not scouting them and making a game plan, obviously the Chiefs knew it was coming... EVERYONE knows it's coming. I don't think it's worked once this season and he tries it every game. Also, I don't know why they keep faking the reverse, when I don't remember them actually handing off for the reverse even once.

Cush has a torn LCL and a broked leg. Out for the season.

Ugh, that sucks... You knew he was fucked with how he was laying on the field and not moving that leg at all.

Hmmm now I feel bad for always saying terrible things about him.

We also waived three players for violation of team rules after the KC game, including our 3rd round draft pick. Are we the bad news bears this season or what?

All 3 were inactive... you'd think if you were an inactive player, you'd behave...

Wood is the only loss that will matter this year as he would be the backup back next week assuming that Foster is done for a while. That #3 pick may be rough in the future.

Yea, but I'm pretty sure if he were really any good, he wouldn't have been removed so easily. I'm sure they got in trouble for partying or trashing a hotel room... you think Kubiak would dismiss Foster for that?

Wood looked ok in pre season but yeah I agree. But with Foster possibly being out for a while and Tate being pretty poor(granted against the Cheifs), us cutting our 3rd string guy had to be for good reason. I mean, who is going to be our backup running back now? Our fullback? Do we have some guy on the practice squad that has been lighting it up? I doubt it. Maybe Vince Young can be a running back?
