If you watch Buffy, Football and Saw it does not warrant ridicule.
If you watch Buffy, Gilmore Girls and Sex and the City it does warrant the ridicule.
However in this case all we have to go on is Buffy. That by itself does not warrant the reaction.

If you watch Buffy and yet ridicule other men for not being "manly" enough to be men, that does warrant ridicule.
-This is the one that relates to the above mentioned situation in particular.
If you watch Buffy and don't comment on other mens' "manliness", or lack there of, then that does not warrant ridicule.
I believe that's the point Jake was trying to get at.
