Why give up the awesome surround sound and large screen to watch moving pictures on a stamp while listening on headphones? I won't compromise my viewing experience to watch movies or tv on my computer and I sure as shootin won't watch on anything smaller. Who cares how many inferior viewing experience devices you can seamlessly switch between?
How about sitting on a 3 hour flight or train ride? I used my wife's itouch alot when I was in the UK for 2 weeks last year. Headphones on, watching Pirates of the Caribbean that was purchased via itunes.
Grieve,
Interestingly enough I was unable to watch the same movie on the big screen at home since Apple wont open its DRM to Microsoft. On the other hand, I am able to watch Amazon rented and purchased video's on the xbox streaming them from the PC, as well as Zune purchased video's and netflix, and DIVX and etc etc. But for Apple content I have to have apple hardware or itunes which doesn run on all the various hardware out there including xbox, android, blackberry etc etc etc.
Also I can take a Mp3 purchased at Amazon and stream it through my Xbox, play it on itunes, media players and just about any device you can think of, but I cant do the same thing with a song purchased via itunes and apple. This is where your drinking the Apple kool aid. Buy apple media and you have to have apple hardware.
Don't get me wrong its a great business plan. I just don't like being locked into one vendor. In the end it will always end badly.
