I stand by the claim that in general the South is the most bland food in America, however don't mistake spicey with hot.

While I am a great fan of spicy hot dishes I also quite like the other type of spicy as well which I refer to as well seasoned food as opposed to spicy food to avoid confusion. And I dunno, maybe in my travels I've just never been exposed to the right places but I find that when I go out for good Italian food here I am able to find places with well seasoned food of that ethnicity. The same goes for several other ethnicities of food such as Mexican. You know we do have populations of Mexican, Chinese, Italian, and others who do own and operate restaurants and make food according to their backgrounds.

Perhaps, as with music, it is a subjective preference of yours and of mine that determines what we think tastes best in food and what regions have the best. Don't get me wrong, I'm not claiming that the South has better Italian, Chinese, or whatever than the North (and I will admit that I have not found Greek or German food anywhere down here to compare to what I have had in the north) just that these things don't suck just because they are in the South and that perhaps one person might prefer the Northern variety while another prefers the Southern. I do of course hold to the fact that Memphis BBQ is better than anywhere else and the rest of the country has no idea how to correctly make cornbread and our Cajun and Soul food are the best.
