Well I for one, think they are morons.
However, there could have been something in the works. Perhaps they had a deal, and it fell through.
If I was running the thing, I would land a pay to rent stream video, like block buster and zune have. Just do it as a value added service.
I could see Google, microsoft, or amazon buying them. I can't see apple doing it, unless they want to change their hardware monopoly philosophy. Doesn't seem to fit.
