It's why, as an employee of a cable company, it always irks me that people jump down the providers' throats first, when almost always it is the programmers who control the market.
We can't have a segment of sports channels, cooking channels etc because different companies own all different kinds of channels and they want them sold as packages for themselves, and not "genre" packages that would be split up among different companies.
