90% of bios you dont need to mess with anything relating to SATA ports, definitely not turning ports on/off.
If do not see the plugged in items in the bios display, then something is wrong with your wiring or the hardware it self. Only exception to his is you may need to configure the Sata drives to 'IDE emulation' or something to that effect, you do NOT want AHCI
