I was reading up on the ratings of GOT and apparently the Sansa rape episode was the lowest rating the show ever received and the week after was almost as bad. Hardhome was one of the highest rated they ever had.
I am unclear how that is possible? I would think that the subsequent shows after the Sansa rape episode would take all of the hits not that episode directly.
If the ratings were diving how is it all those viewers showed up again on what was probably the best GOT episode ever?
I suppose it is entirely possible that the Dorne stuff the week before the Sansa rape episode is what is really hurting the show but why do people show back up for Hardhome? Maybe like myself the book readers knew something happened at Hardhome so they tuned in to see if they showed that but is that really enough to turn it into some of their best ratings ever?
Either ratings calculations are suspect, they got plain lucky or viewers have esp. Either way given the cost of the show Hardhome might have saved GOT given the way the ratings were looking.
