leader-touch next to the boat. Would have loved a photo holding it, but no luck on that part. It slashed the line with its bill right at the end of the video. Next time we'll keep the line across its back and away from the bill. It is kind of one of those things no amount of theory can prepare you for, you just have to have the experience to be able to make everything go right. Would have loved some boat side photos, but that's the way it works with marlin.
My only true regret was not capturing the moment when we realized it was a marlin - the number of times I call this a sailfish (especially with the degree of conviction I had) makes me sound like a total novice, so that would have been at least a little redemption.
