Well, i dont know what his financial plan is but i think he is risking his book sales. If readers get pissed, they dont bother with the books. I don't think they've gone overboard yet. The Sannis story was heading for trouble. How many kids did Martin torture, rape, etc in the books? I'm not surprised it happened but i think its pretty messed up. It was foreshadowed in the books. After next episode, i have a feeling next season viewship will drop due to emotional fatigue.
