Seems like what they are saying is the scope has become so large that they just have to infer and time jump a lot more than they might want to. Instead of showing something, they'll just say "This happened!" They actually did that plenty in the early seasons because their budget was much smaller (They never showed the battle that got Jaime captured, or the Tyrion battle with his mercenary crew). 23 Episodes (10 this season, 13 more) seems like plenty of time to wrap it up to me. They need to do something with Dany's story because it sucks so bad right now (sucked in the books too) and it looks like she'll spend an entire season again not doing anything about Westeros.
