Joining the guild
#9
Glad that you stopped by, Stewy, Bobdoe, and Abedoe, and i'm glad you have taken an interest in our guild. Always nice to meet new people.

How should you go about joining The Purge? Well, you're off to a good start. You've posted and introduced yourself. Next, read the thread that is stickied in the APPLICATIONS section. That will give you some extra info about us.

There are a few other things you should know about The Purge as well, so i'll fill you in and we can continue from there.

1. We have two allied guilds, <Big Bad Baddies> and <HLEP>. Treat them as you would any member of the Purge, with respect and generosity. All three of us raid together, hang out a lot, and generally talk about "the good old days" in our shared chat channels/Teamspeak. Most of us have gamed together for a few years, starting with the Vallon Zek server in Everquest and continuing from there. Thus, there is a history we share with one another. I tend to think of us as one large guild with three separate guildtags. Maybe not the most accurate depiction, but close.

If you treat any member of BBB or HLEP rudely or in a manner we see as inappropriate, rest assured it will come back to haunt you. Just be friendly, and everything will be a-okay. Which leads me to...

2. BE FRIENDLY! Caustic personalities and rude behavior is a sure-fire way to have your application hit the trashpile with a quickness. Everybody has their bad days, of course, but people with constant bad attitudes and abusive personalities aren't going to last long in here. Guildchat is drama-free, and so is teamspeak. We aim to keep it that way.

3. PvP-oriented guild--is it for you? Yes, we do Molten Core and other high-level raids, but we are predominantly a pvp-based guild. If you are looking to beat down the walls of Onyxia's Lair on a daily basis, you won't be happy here. Many of our members are older guys-n-gals with families, jobs, and a 401K plan, and who log on just to pvp and hang out in guildchat before logging. They don't have the time nor the desire to do high-level instances and encounters.

This is not to say that we don't raid. Quite the opposite. It's just that many times, we forego a lot of PvE stuff to engage in pvp. If this is your cup of tea, you'll probably make a good applicant.

4. Be patient. It takes a while to get into <The Purge>. Expecting an overnight invite into the Purge is a pipe dream if we don't know you. Therefore, it is a must that you seek us out and get to know us rather well. Applicants have waited anywhere from 4 or 5 days to two weeks or more before an invite has come their way. Again, the more you get to know us, the faster we can move the application process along.

Those are the big four. Send me a tell in-game and we can chat sometime, or simply group up with a few guildies and go from there.

Good luck!
