I will agree that the worst part of the Darth Maul fight was that end bit where Obi-Wan jumped over him while Maul looked on frozen and slack-jawed. But everything else was pretty cool, from the music to the choreography to the initial reveal of Maul in the elevator following by the double bladed saber.

I liked the fights in the OT. They weren't hyper-kinetic gymnastics displays, but for me they came across more as mental than physical battles. George obviously had to do something different in the prequels to distinguish them.

And yeah, there are plenty of hokey lines in the OT ("laser brain", "nerf-herder"), but overall the script and direction were 100X better, and the characters had warmth and chemistry, unlike the stilted delivery in the prequels. I felt the same way about the original Star Trek vs TNG as well, although TNG was still way superior to the prequels.

Episode IV had terrible acting and a terrible script - it is a flat out bad movie only redeemed by nostalgia. And DS9 is the only good Star Trek.

The more I think about it, the more I'm kind of stoked about this. I really, really hate the prequels.

I knew if I stuck around long enough I would eventually find something I could agree with Grieve on. And I would just like to add - hate the prequels.

I was really hoping for an epic storyline chronicling the fall of Anakin Skywalker with every step along the way being done for the best of reasons but leading to his ultimate corruption. See the WH40K Eisenhorn trilogy of books by Dan Abnett for the right way to do this.

I hate Star Wars. The Adventures of Winnie the Poo was a better movie in 77 than Star Wars. Primarily because Lucas sucks.

Who knows, now that Lucas is out maybe it will become good.

Having watched The Adventures of Winnie the Pooh about 20 times in a row with my 2 year old, I do have a soft spot for it. But if you hate the original Star Wars you have no soul.

He didn't suck back then. American Graffiti was great, THX 1138 was pretty good, and as well as writing Raiders of the Lost Ark, he was heavily involved in making it with Spielberg. He was even originally supposed to direct Apocalypse Now, as difficult as that is to imagine now. It didn't start to go downhill until Howard The Duck...

As for Star Wars VII, it looks like Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, and even Harrison Ford are all up for being in it. Plus, it seems that Michael Arndt might be writing it, which is a great sign. He wrote Little Miss Sunshine (great movie), as well as Toy Story 3 (also great) and the next Hunger Games flick. And Steven Spielberg is reading his 40-page treatment...

American Graffiti was good. THX 1138 made me want to stab myself in the eye. It was the movie you watched in the 70's when you couldn't sleep but wanted to.

Raiders and his other work with Spielberg doesn't count. He has a lot of work with other folks that are good. He should never be allowed to control a project. He is a great idea guy but he can't lead projects for shit.

Looks like JJ Abrams is going to be directing the first movie, which is pretty good news. He did a great job with the Star Trek reboot, and from the extended clip shown before The Hobbit, looks like the second one is even better.
