The future of gaming is no longer about which project is being released by current dev teams.
What Arsilon and I have done to Aezeroth Core is the future of gaming. We have taken wow and created our own game. Including our own encounters, mobs, invasions etc. that have zero to do with WoW.
Stop waiting around for the PVP game that is NEVER going to come out. Everything we have talked about the last 25 years simply didn't come to fruition and never is. The future of gaming is having AI help all of us create our own products. Whether that starts with someone else's source code or not.
Other companies projects are now irrelevant. IF you want the game YOU want to play you no longer need dev's to do it.
Arsilon and I built the MMO we want to play so their is no need to wait for any other. The same can be done in general. Once you understand the basics or can borrow other basics AI can do the rest.
We are never again going to have to play other shitty dev's products. We can now create our own. Arsilon and I are already doing it.

Yep. I've been tooting the AI horn for a bit now. 2025 AI was really capable but 2026 AI really is on another level and I don't think many people realize how far it has come. My web game was derpy (and ultimately I need a better vision of what I actually want and how the gameplay design should get us there) but I proved the main point I wanted to prove, which was that I can make a functional multiplayer web game and I don't need to know anything about web development. All that code is baked in now. We just need the ideas.
All those times we played games and wished we could just mod them to do something a bit different here and there, all very achievable now. Frankly even if the game isn't designed to be moddable and is all binaries, I'm willing to bet Fable-level AI can figure out how to mod it anyway. If you actually have the source code then the game is yours to do with as you please.
It's still something for a hobbyist, really. You do need time for playtesting (less looking for bugs, though, and more "is this fun?"), and some real time put into things like UX/UI layouts and general game design, but the actual coding is solved.

Yes and no. While what you and Arsilon did I'm sure is great... Imagine what you could do if you had a large budget and 50+ developers, the hardware to run it efficiently etc. There's going to be a game come out probably within the next 2-3 years that will blow us away.
I don't own kid gloves.

You won't find big teams anymore. They are no longer needed, AI can do everything those 50 plus guys can do. Arsilon and I have done the work on Azerothcore that would have taken 50 guys 5 years ago.
You no longer need a large budget to make games and large budget games never give anyone what they want BECAUSE they were large budget.
Eventually just like in the music/movie industry an app will come out where you feed in your parameters and it spits out a game.
Their are still some graphic and UI hurdles to overcome but until that time just do it yourself.

Anyone that want to poke around, just let me know. All you need is a WoW client you can download from the web (or dig up your old Wrath of the Lich King installation CD if you still have it) a Tailscale network client and a token I can generate for you in 30 seconds. The download our custom server patch that contains our customizations and point it to my server and you're good to go.
I posted patch notes in the other thread not too long ago, but anything more current is posted in the Purge Discord channel.

And for those that are curious on the backend.
I have a SQL Server DB running on my machine that contains the world db and character db.
Azerothcore provides a copy of all the raw scripts that handle all the server side processing that I can modify and recompile into authorization and world server executables using Visual Studio.
I use a Claude Cowork project to manage modifications to the core files and database. I use ChatGPT to help me with any art for new icons, etc. since its much better at that than Claude is currently.
I use Tailscale to create a private network for people to log onto the server so I don't have to set up a public IP (which I can't do anyway given I'm on Starlink internet).
