Hey! From Africa

Hey there Guys,

Just wanted to drop you guys a quick line from the other side of the world. No, I've not been arrested (yet), no I've not slept with any monkeys, baboons, or orangatangs (yet)... but I'll keep yah updated if anything untowards happens

I've been taking it easy around Capetown, went to Robben Island where they used to keep Mandela, did a tour of the townships, went out to Point Cape... and I actually found a date for Cinderkitten.. I'll have to link the picture later once I get it downloaded.

Tommorow I"m off to the wineries, gonna get liquored up before the real trip into Namimbia (gonna fly 80 km /hour down a sand dune on a piece of wood) and Botswana (to wrestle some crocodiles).... and Zambia (who knows.. by then).

Hope all is going well and will catch up with you all soon

Trotts...

Woohoo! Hey Trotts!

Sounds like you're having fun. Me? I'm busy as hell atm. Getting ready for graduate school, working major overtime, and wrapping up my second degree...add the Southern Modified races to that and i've little time for gaming. I'll pop on a few days this summer to hear how it all went, though!

Should be back to normal around October/November.

PS: Tell Descia that i'm still shirtless. Tee hee! ~

TROTTS!!!

You need to go to Victoria Falls on the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe and go white water rafting. There is a tour group called Sheerwater, and they are awesome. It was the single most awesome day of my life, and you seriously need to do it. Its a hell of a hike down the gorge to the rafts, and then a VERY serious hike back out of the gorge, but it is just incredible. I am so jealous of you right now, but I'll be following some of those footsteps in a few months. Did you climb to the top of Table Mountain - nice view of Cape Town from up there. Have you been to C.T. before? How'd you like it?

Update #2 ... I'm still alive Descia has not cashed in on my life insurance policy yet !!

I finished my time in Cape Town, nice city, although a cute little Austrian Girl whom we befriended got robbed in the Hostel! We drank a few bottles of wine, petted some damn cheetahs.. there was some heavy petting and I wasn't sure if it was the cheetah's or me that was purring.. but then again.. that was alot of wine ;>....

From there the actual tour started. Spent alot of time on a bus, sleeping in tents so far. Drinking, eating and more time on a bus. Have seen quite a bit. Did a bit of Canoeing in Namibia on some damn river I don't remember , drank beer, shots and played some pool.

Saw alot of sand.. walked up a damn 350 foot high sand dune.. (tallest one in the area was around 400 metres (1200 feet high). Walked a desert with a bushman who was entertaining as hell but showed yah how to survive in a desert (for a few days anyway).

Drove through Wavisbay.. (while Angelina Jolie had her baby)... guess she's gonna go on a bender now.. might have to swing by her resourt and join the party.

Actually did not do any sand boarding.. instead decided that jumping out of a plane with a couple of australian chicks would be entertaining.. and yes it was.. =)

Orson, we are slowling making our way to Vic Falls =), was hoping to get some white water in but I've heard that the water levels may be a bit too high this time of year. Am hoping that the water levels are going to drop by the time we get there (2 weeks) but might have opt out .. maybe bungy jump or something like that !

Between here and there .. going to go to the Okavango Delta .. see some wildlife.. (am going to buy a fishing rod and try and catch some tigerfish)... and who knows what else !!

Anyhow, still have a few more emails to fire off.. =), really have to get some of my damn pictures downloaded as well =) have some good shots!

CK, don't work too hard ;>.. and don't give Descia any ideas about more schooling...

As for my seat being kept warm..... I'm pretty sure the stench will have wafted away by the time I get back !!

Take care all !!

Trotts

Orson I'm heading my way slowly but surely to Vic Falls, where we'll be wrapping up the trip. I was hoping to

Tigerfish are an absolute blast to catch. Sound like you are doing everything the right way =p

Bungie jumping off the bridge at vic falls is completely insane (in a good way). I haven't done it, but there is a vantage point in the park at the top of the falls where you can watch people doing it. You get a real sense of scale from there too.

When I went rafting there, the river was quite high as well. The water moves MUCH faster, but I was told by the guides that they prefer it when it is high because you don't hit the rocks as much. Meh I'll keep my fingers crossed for you though. That would be a total shame if you aren't able to do it. I still have the video and pictures from that trip - there are guides that take pics and video for you as you go down the river. They aren't cheap at the end of the day, but it is soooo worth it. I'll see if I can scan in the one pic. All you can see in it of me is my foot though /sigh. I'll post the pic in the next couple of days. If you cant do the white water rafting, there are plenty of game reserves up that way. Plenty of hiking trails as well. If you like golfing, there are a couple of courses there that are right out in the bush, and the warthogs etc. frequently come up onto the course. Dont even think about retrieving your ball from the water though - lots of crocs (talk about hazards).

Glad you're having a good time. Bring back pics to post!
