I'm back! Got in late last night. And holy shit, what a week to miss! Confusedhock: What really sucks is that I sold my (real money) Citigroup on Wednesday 11th at $1.59 because I thought it was too risky to hold while I was away (my wife banned me from even looking at stock prices on the cruise, let alone trading). And I come back to find it at...$3.13. Oh well.

I'll update everything as soon as I can, but it probably won't be until later today or tomorrow, as I'm already swamped here at work...

Oh, and as for people jumping in late...the more the merrier! I consider everyone on the boards as being 100% in cash, which they can invest anytime. Just remember that trades work like mutual funds - they go through at the end of the business day. So if you buy or sell at 4.10pm on a Friday (after the close), your price will be the one at the end of Monday.

Yea I was thinking the same. Those shorts going up 391% is an interesting gamble for alot of people.

One thing though is if it takes a dip, it will be time to buy cause those guys are gonna have to cover.

One thing to remember is that even the government can't destroy American business over night. While it can destroy the value of the dollar fairly quickly, it can't take out the ability for good companies to make a profit as easily.

During times of inflation (which may be coming) one good place to put your money is in a well run solid business that is free to raise prices with inflation.

Interesting thought I just had:
I find it funny that the same group of people who mock Slamz and I for our comments on the media's role in this crisis earlier are now supporting Jon Stewart and the CNBC-bashing -- claiming they had a role in this crisis. Interesting...
(I'm not saying Grieve is in this group, but you're all basically the same as Grieve without the British accent)

PS Grieve, the Off Topic section is no longer for political commentary. Damn brit

My response might be political and inflamatory. I shall see you in the big kids room!

I honestly don't know about GE. They make so many different things that you'd need to make a matrix to figure out which products can bear inflation price increases. As you move from Jet engines to washing machines to medical imagining devices, it's hard to do the analysis.

What do you think?

I was being sarcastic on GE as I bought it for the very reason you stated. Think I bought it at 25ish. its 11 ish now.

I think the hole market is still on its head doing a spinny dance.

Take PG. This is suppose to be a inflation proof solid company, and well run. In December it was at 65, today 48.

JNJ in October close to 56, today 52ish.

My take right now that if you bought when we started this game, everyone looks like a genius. But if you put 100k in a mattress last September, your up 40% over everyone else.

How so? If you put 100k in a mattress last September, you'd still have 100k. Those of us who started investing last month would be up over anyone stuffing their mattress, regardless of when they stuffed their mattress.
