they really need anti gold digger laws.
pay her $20 for being a housewife or something stupid like that.
she didnt do the work to help him get where he is. she may have supported him in ways, but that isnt worth 50% of what he earned
same goes for me. my job pays shit. if i got married to a rich girl and she left, i wouldnt go asking for 50%, but i'd never get divorced in the first place.

they have SEVEN kids, that's worth something. Raising 7 kids is tougher than sitting around a movie set all day having your ass kissed. I have no sympathy, Mr. Super Catholic getting a divorce? Allow me to chuckle.

Yeah, I'm sure raising kids when you nannies, maids, cooks, and personal shoppers is a real chore!

Let's wait 18 years and if 3/7 of the kids are alive and/or sane then we'll pay her her share.

That answer is up to Mel to decide and nobody else. I'll tell you when I've made enough money, you won't tell me.

If Mel had put together a pre-nup, then he'd get to decide. But he didn't. Spouses have rights, too.

I don't disagree. My comment was to Maul saying Mel has made enough money. Nobody has any business saying somebody else has made enough money since that is a personal decision.

Chris rock said it best:
When it's time to get a divorce, women got it made. You go to court, start talkin' that shit. "I'm used to this, I'm used to that. I'm accustomed to this." What the fuck is accustomed? Whats that got to do with shit? You go to a restaurant, you accustomed to eatin'. You leave, you ain't eatin' no more. They don't owe you a steak.

I will have to say that it looks like Mel cheated on his wife. He is the guilty party not her.
Marriage is a contract and he broke the contract.
Sorry he now pays the penalty and lives with the consquences.
Who knows it might be worth the $500 MM.

Yea its sort of sweet to, because he is such a holly roller Christian. I guess we can see him later on TV crying and begging forgiveness?

Even the hottest chick in the world has a guy somewhere who's sick of her bullshit. I wouldn't lose a marriage for that chick.

He is not a holy roller. He is a Catholic.

Quote:Holy Roller is a term in American English used to describe Pentecostal Christian churchgoers. However, "Holy Roller" is also more commonly used to describe any religion follower that tries to promote their religion at doorsteps or in public forums. The term is commonly used derisively, as if to describe people literally rolling on the floor or speaking in tongues in an uncontrolled manner. For this usage, the Oxford English Dictionary cites an 1893 memoir by Charles G. Leland, in which he says "When the Holy Spirit seized them..the Holy Rollers..rolled over and over on the floor."[1] It is generally considered pejorative, but some have reclaimed it as a badge of honor, e.g. William Branham's statement "And what the world calls today holy-roller, that's the way I worship Jesus Christ." [2] Similar disparaging terms directed at outspoken Christians include Jesus Freaks and Bible Bangers. The name Shakers was created as a portmanteau of shaking Quakers. Singer Andrae Crouch stated, "They call us holy rollers, and what they say is true. But if they knew what we were rollin' about, they'd be rollin' too."

He's not really Catholic, in a sense that most Catholic's would recognize.

I don't know I kind of look at this like a perfect opportunity for any of those Purge members who are still single and looking.
Wait for the settlement to be all wrapped up and move in and reap the rewards of Mel's hard work.
I'll put in a good word for yah ;>

You can piss and moan and get all, well get all whatever the fuck Diggles gets, but Marriage is a CIVIL CONTRACT. It doesn't matter what the fuck you think, he went into a contract which STATES that if it ends, she gets 50% of everything.
HE SIGNED ON THE FUCKING DOTTED LINE. That contract is easily gotten around by a pre-nup, which is basically a modification to that contract. It's not like he can claim he didn't fucking know. Johnny Carson paid out HOW MANY TIMES? She isn't a gold-digger. She didn't marry some old bastard close to death. HE asked HER. HE knew the implications, or HE was a fucking moron (which may indeed be the case).
It's like any other contract you sign which states..."When one of the parties gets sick and tired of this contract, each party leaves with 50% of the current assets of the two combined". I'm actually guessing that he had a pre-nup that had a void clause in the case of infidelity or abandonment.
Face it, Mel stepped on his dick. He fucked up and it cost him a shitload of cash. It's all his fault. Can't blame her, he signed on the fucking dotted line.
End...

So a marriage certificate in Sydney, Australia specifically says that she gets half when she leaves?
Pre nups should be built in, IMO - it is kind of hard to ask for one when you are getting married. "I love you honey, I want to spend the rest of my life with you... but in case it doesn't work out my attorney has prepared these for you to sign here, here, here, initial here."
Great, I'll tell you guys how that works out when I pop the question. Hopefully germans are understanding...
