What do the cool kids use these days? I was thinking of using this place:
https://www.nzxt.com/bldnow
I'm tired of futzing around with hardware myself so I intend to just buy a ready-built machine. Thought about a laptop but just isn't worth it for the 2 times a year I might actually benefit from being able to carry it with me. So I think I'll go for an "everything and the kitchen sink" desktop and this place seems to do good builds.
Although based on Arsilon's thread maybe I should also check out Origin or MainGear?

I used this:
https://www.cyberpowerpc.com/
I can't remember when I upgraded (maybe 3-4 yrs ago?) but I haven't had any issues, it was reasonably priced. I don't put much into customer service because I fix most of my own issues. I also understand that sometimes cheap price might mean crap components but I usually look up what I'm customizing.

I dont like sites that dont easily list phone number and physical address. If I were buying I'd do ibuypower or cyberpower, think they both have decent reviews

Amazon has some decent ibuys or cyberpowers.... That is what I will do next time instead of this f-cking alienware money pit. I know I don't need an i9 but you can pick up a built machine with a 2070 for 1600.

Huh, yeah, both ibuypower and cyberpower won't ship until 1/22. Doesn't seem to matter what the components are. 1/22 is the earliest ship date if I order today. Whereas if I can find the particular configuration of ibuypower or cyberpower machine I want in stock on Amazon I can get it by Monday. Can't customize it, of course, just have to see if they have what I want.

I did notice some HP workstations that are refurb on Amazon. I used to buy those because they have everything beefed up minus the video card. I would just buy the video card I want and install it. IF you are making that once every 5 years purchase I would probably get exactly what I want and skip the refurb.

$1800 which is a few hundred more than I would want to spend normally gets you an i9 9900k, 2070 8gb etc.. The 240gb ssd and 1 tb HDD is kinda lame. I wish they would make it a 500gb min SSD and 2TB hdd.

$300 less gets you the exact same machine but without the i9. Considering some people pay $100 a month for cable tv I don't think $300 is a big deal.
