You don't even have to die. Just loggoff.
You have to get as far as you can get in one sitting! Too many games to fit in signature....

For soloing, I don't think much beats hammers. Maybe machine guns if you don't mind the brass. I suspect clubs would be competitive because it looks like they also do stuns and knockdowns and while there's no AE, they can swing faster so in theory you can bop zombies in sequence, keeping them down til you kill them all. Usually I can handle 3 green zombies at once, just by knocking them down. Easiest if I can round them up and hit them all at once. Even soldiers or the alien guys rarely give me trouble. Only time it gets dicey is if I fail too many knockbacks in a row. Add in a junk turret with some levels in it and you're hard to beat (1 junk turret at level 4 is good enough to solo most things. You can mod them a little bit too. Rad reducer and drum magazine, for sure.)
If you use shotguns, bring slugs. It's pretty quick to switch ammo types. Regular ammo is best most of the time but I've noticed high armor zombies won't get stunned by shotgun blasts and can whoop your ass while you shoot them. I think the problem is you need to pass a damage threshold and shotgun shells vs high armor won't cut it. Slugs will, though. Really you can't go wrong with slugs other than if the target is a regular low armor zombie, the regular shells do about twice as much damage. So I mostly solo with heavy armor (70%+ damage mitigation) and a sledge hammer and right click swing unless I'm low on stamina. Junk turret if I think about it and shotgun for panic fire (though a lot of times I think I'm actually better off sticking with the hammer).

Don't all melee weapons knock down and stun?
Once I got high enough level in Brawling I knock down and slice off no differently than Slamz Hammer. The Hammer advantage is the AOE but in general all Melee have the same effects I believe. With my high mitigation and high fortitude skills I have no problems soloing multiple Zombies. The only time I get into the trouble is when I get surrounded and can't move. Other than that Zombies fights are fairly tame. The only time I have died in a while was while I can digging in a cave and had a mini horde block my pin me to a wall. The key for my build is I never get stunned anymore so I am always mobile. If you are dying you are not doing something right or made a mistake.

Spears and blades don't say anything about stunning or staggering so I was assuming they don't, but maybe there's an inherent stagger if you do enough damage in one shot?

Arsilon,
We had I think 3 Bloodmoons after you left. Not sure we got repairs completed and it hit our ammo hard. They were rough Bloodmoons. Slamz base got roughed up to the point where we had to go to Shotgun base to defend. Since we are stretching the limits of how far we can get and get to Bloodmoons I laid a land claim down in the western part of the map. We can use it as a hub in order to get goods back.
03-30-2020, 09:03 AM
How far west did you place the land claim? I considered placing a small remote base far west to see different terrain and see new stuff. Is your land claim in the desert or?
I am guessing the radiated zone is no different than anywhere besides being radiated?

Though I think in all the time we've played, we've only gotten 1 radiation suit. I think Zouji fixed shotgun base. We only used it for like the last hour of blood moon so I don't think it lost any structure. I need to finish fixing mine. Took advantage of the damage to extend the lower trench around to a 3rd side (which means the one remaining high side will probably take all the damage next time and then I'll lower it) but I didn't finish filling it in.

Without a suit it would be hard to tell, I know things are out there but not sure what you need to survive it beyond a suit. You may need to be a Fortitude build to survive it. I put a claim down at a missle silo on the far west of the desert near the wastelands. I cleared up the top part of the silo but didn't bother with the lower part. I put new doors on it to block anything from down below coming up (I don't think a single block will keep all of it clear). That seemed like the most fortified position with no work. I laid out working stations and it has 2 gun safes to help with storage. You can reach all the wasteland cities from this point yet get back to home in time for a bloodmoon.

I brought back a bunch of stuff from cars in the far south green zone city. No blood moon. Time is currently day 40 morning. So you will probably have a blood moon on day 40 or 41.

I went ahead and fought a solo blood moon, mostly to see how it was. Mainly used explosives, which I have decided are great for blood moons, at least if you spec in it for the bonuses. Pipe bombs are practically free in the sense that they require no looted materials to make -- mainly just gotta farm up nitrite, coal and iron and you can make all the pipe bombs you want. Grenades need a spring, which isn't exactly hard to get but does mean they require a loot-only item.
Spitters are still a problem in the current design. They WILL spit at you from below and a direct hit is pretty harmful. Vllad's plan of prioritizing them with his 7.62 is definitely the way to go. Solo, I had to stop what I was doing and make sure I blew them up anytime I heard one. Luckily they self-detonate if you get a good hit on them so if you're just trying to get rid of them it's not too hard. We can probably do more blood moons by diversifying our weapons anyway. Everyone on blunderbus/shotgun is too much paper. Everyone on 7.62 would be too much brass. But if I focus mainly on explosive, Vllad does 7.62, Zouji does bolts/arrows and Arsilon and Doph do shotguns or whatever then we can probably do more bloodmoons. (We do need to do more group loot runs though. Starting over on hard means none of us can safely solo still. We don't have the armor for it, mainly. I still get stunned pretty easily which I assume is a consequence of not having enough armor. Blunderbus also sucks against high armor zombies because you don't stagger them at all and then they just stun you and eat you.)
Yea, this re-start feels like a solo game. I think we do some group play to get ready for Bloodmoons. I agree with Slamz above. I wasn't shooting at all in our Bloodmoon unless I saw a spitter or soilder and that still ate up 250 7.62. I had 40 shotgun ammo for clean up which turned out not to be enough.
We just need to be more strategic in our weapon use for Bloodmoons. We didn't do that last time and ran out of things. This is much harder this go around. One other option, if everyone goes hunting, and brings back bones, 625 bones is 1250 paper. I never thought of it as an option before because no one but myself ever went hunting. However Zouji has been bringing back a shit ton of bone. If everyone did that we could produce our own paper. You could make a case that if we did nothing but mine and hunt, that would produce enough non brass ammo to fight a bloodmoon. Real quick on the math, 625 bone and 125 muddy water = 125 glue. 125 glue, 125 muddy water, 1250 wood = 1250 paper. Other than glass (made from sand) water and wood, if you can get the bone paper can be produced with no looting efforts.
We would need hunting rifles for people to hunt with. The rifles will alert all of the roaming zombies around you when you fire. You can get around that by using a silenced weapon or a bow/crossbow. I can't make any more crossbows until I get more bow parts. I can make some primitive bows if people want to try that.

After Vera logged I heard something getting slashed and some stuff beating on the walls. I went out to investigate and I took out a screamer/soldier around the side door. Still heard the noise so I did a perimeter sweep and found a screamer and friend beating on the front door with the lawn mower blade trap going. They had already busted the first airlock door by the time I found them. You can't shoot them from up top once they do that. So, I went down just in time to as they broke through the 2nd airlock door. Then the alarm went off. I killed them before they could call for reinforcements. I went back down and had to make 2 wooden doors (I can't make steel doors) to seal the gap. On the way back the alarm went off and I killed another screamer. I sealed the door and upgraded it with iron.
After all of that I went out and picked up the airdrop and came back home. I shut off all of the furnaces/chem stations so time wouldn't pass while we are logged off. I turned off the generator. I think the battery bank may still be running. Nothing was queued up in the work stations. So when you guys login you need to make at least 4+ steel doors and 2+ steel hatches and put them in the base building box. That way if we get another breach we can seal it easily. You also need to replace those iron doors with steel doors for the front entrance. You may want to think about redesigning some of the flat sections of the wall (where the front door is and garage wall are) so that way they are sloped and not flat. Wooden spikes also need to be added back around the outside of the base (in most places) once all of that is done.

I played for a bit and brought back some more stuff to sell. Had a blood moon on day 130 & day 131. Repaired the shotgun base both times so it is good to go. No major damage in either blood moon to the shotgun base. I replaced the pipe bombs and Magnum AP ammo that I used. Arslion will need to make more blunderbuss ammo since he can make it in bulk. Getting all of the magazines in whatever weapon category lets you make bulk ammo for that weapon (except for for Automatic Weapons books which get you a speed bonus instead of bulk craft 7.62)
Vlad you should have enough bone in the food drop off box for another run of glue. You can probably start boiling some of that meat to sell to the trader. Arslion we still need 3 more vault doors to be made for the building supply box. I am going to formally request we make a 2nd jeep. While I was out looting the jeep saved my ass twice (you can actually click on the damned thing and it works). That and it has a huge storage capacity that I fill up before I come back to base. The motorcycle doesn't have the storage capacity for the sheer amount of shit I am getting in animal parts, loot, salvage, weapons, etc. Yes that is even with breaking down some items out in the field. The reason for the the 2nd jeep is so that people can run missions/loot with one jeep while someone else can use the other jeep to do looting/hunting/salvaging. Plus helping me not to die cuts down on equipment costs. As Dophuz keeps saying, "You gotta spend money so you can make money so you can spend money...".

You need to find another wheel to even start another jeep I believe. We don't have enough acid for wheel production last I saw. If you can't click on a bike that is on you not the bike. That means you buried it in grass and didn't clear it. When you park a Bike you need to clear the grass around it. That is the only reason you won't get on the bike. You think you are clicking on it but you are clicking on something layered over the Bike.
I don't see anything wrong with a second Jeep but I just don't think we have the materials. To me Jeeps are way overboard, they are cumbersome, can't off road and are slow compared to a copter or bike. Have you tried flying? The real downside to Jeeps are the zombies like to beat on them. They don't beat on any other machine. I can certainly get that you can over load them with materials.

No other vehicle has the capacity of the jeep. Plus you can use it as a weapon. I don't need speed. I need to be able to move tons of stuff. I took the jeep off road and it does far better than you may expect. It isn't a motorcycle though.
I got the button to interact with the motorcycle but pressing E did nothing. I died the other day pressing E over and over again over 4 seconds with the interact menu highlighted. Also, I don't always have time to clear grass. I hop off the vehicle take a shot and then hop back on. I don't stand toe to toe to fight. The jeep pays for itself in materials by reducing down deaths. It costs over 100 steel + 60 iron ingots + lots of other stuff to fully gear back up. I can bring back lots of more material home too with it. I can't do that with a bike.
